We take your details once and pass them to up to three MCS-certified installers who cover your postcode and who fit battery storage. They contact you and quote you directly. We do not fit anything ourselves.

Nothing. Installers pay us a fee when we pass on an enquiry. You are never charged and you are under no obligation to accept any quote you receive.

Up to three. We tell each of them that the enquiry is shared with two others, so nobody contacts you believing they have you exclusively.

Usually within two working days, and often the same day. If nobody has contacted you after two working days, email info@comparegreen.co.uk and we will chase it.

Because fitting a battery to an existing system is a different job from installing solar, with its own MCS certification and, from 15 October 2026, its own chapter in the UK wiring regulations. Sites that cover six technologies at once treat it as an add-on.

To confirm the number works and belongs to you. It stops installers being sent dead or mistyped numbers, and it means you will not be contacted because somebody else entered your number by accident.

Yes. Email info@comparegreen.co.uk with the postcode and phone number you used. We delete our record and tell any installer we already passed it to. We will not ask you to justify the request.

Your details are kept but marked unverified, and they are not passed to installers as a verified enquiry. You can ask us to delete them in the same way.

Yes. We store the exact wording you agreed to, the version of that wording, and the time and IP address of the submission, so it is clear what you agreed to and when.

In most cases yes. It is usually a one-day job. Depending on your existing inverter, the installer will either add a battery with its own inverter or replace the existing one with a hybrid. That is one of the things a site visit determines.

Yes. A standalone battery charges from the grid, typically on an off-peak tariff. Whether that makes financial sense depends entirely on your tariff and how you use electricity, which is a question for the installers quoting you.

It depends on capacity, on your existing equipment and on where the battery goes. We do not publish a price because any figure we gave you without seeing your property would be a guess, and you would judge the real quotes against it.

We will not tell you, because we cannot know. Savings depend on your tariff, your consumption pattern, your export arrangement and the size of the system. Treat any company that gives you a confident savings figure before seeing your property with caution — the ASA has repeatedly ruled against advertisers for exactly this.

Domestic battery storage currently qualifies for 0% VAT as an energy-saving material. HMRC has confirmed the relief runs until 31 March 2027, after which the rate returns to 5%.

They must hold MCS certification for battery storage specifically — not solar PV certification alone, which is a different scope — and confirm they work to BS 7671:2018+A4:2026, including Chapter 57 on stationary secondary battery installations.

A chapter added to the UK wiring regulations in Amendment 4, published on 15 April 2026, covering the installation of stationary secondary batteries. It becomes mandatory for every new UK battery installation on 15 October 2026.

No, and neither can any comparison site. Your contract is with the installer you choose. Their MCS certification carries its own consumer protections, and you should read the warranty terms in the quote before signing.
